General Matovnikov — a failed stormtrooper?

Ingush opposition sources are discussing the removal of General Alexander Matovnikov from his position as the president’s representative for the North Caucasus with healthy Schadenfreude. This is not surprising, since Ahmed Buzurtanov’s comprehensive article shows that Alexander Matovnikov was perceived as the person whom the Kremlin entrusted to storm Ingushetia (http://6portal.ru/posts/%D0%BC%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%B2-%D0%BA%D0%B0%D0%BA-%D1%80%D1%83%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C-%D1%88%D1%82%D1%83%D1%80%D0%BC%D0%B0-%D0%B8/).

This is quite logical, considering that Matovnikov is a professional stormtrooper. However, storming political heights turned out to be much more difficult than military ones, and it is obvious from the Kremlin’s decision that Matovnikov was not up to the task. His new position as the supreme commander of the Russian ground forces is proof of this. In general, Matovnikov did not succeed as a politician, so he was assigned to do what he is competent to do…

Just like his bankrupt subordinate, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, who was also brought back from politics to the army as Sergei Shoygu’s deputy. There, in the Defense Ministry, two failed political stormtroopers will be reunited. (In the photo — Alexander Matovnikov and Yunus-Bek Yevkurov in their previous service).
