Yesterday, the phrase of Vladimir Putin, who decided to scare the world with the possibility of a repetition of Srebrenica in Donbass if Ukraine is given control over its section of the border with Russia, which is currently controlled by the Kremlin, circulated around the world.
«The Ukrainian side always asks: give us the opportunity to close the border with troops. Well, I can imagine what will happen next. There will be Srebrenica, that’s all,» Putin said.
Let’s leave Russian-Ukrainian affairs aside for now. Let’s talk about Srebrenica itself.
As it is obvious, Putin is well aware that something very bad happened in Srebrenica, something he does not want to see repeated in Donbass.
And it may seem logical, since the whole world recognizes that in Srebrenica genocide took place, organized against its Muslim population by the command of the armed forces of the so-called Serbian Republic, with the silent consent of its political leadership, as well as the leadership of Serbia and Yugoslavia at that time.
But there is a serious «but». Vladimir Putin does not recognize the genocide in Srebrenica… It was under his leadership that Russia blocked the recognition of the Srebrenica massacre as genocide by the UN Security Council.
It was his Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, who ceremoniously accepted the award previously given to the organizers of the Srebrenica genocide, presumably for denying and covering it up.
This leadership and the existence of this entity, created by the genocide in Srebrenica and many other similar genocides on a smaller scale, which allowed it to «cleanse» its territory of Muslims, is actively supported by Putin’s Russia, including with weapons, training its fighters in its camps, etc.
And then a person who denies the genocide in Srebrenica, obstructs its recognition and supports the successors of its organizers, scares the world with a new Srebrenica.
If this is not pure cynicism, then cynicism simply does not exist…
Well, now no one should have any doubts about whether the Kremlin leaders believe in their statements denying the bombing of civilians in Syria and the use of chemical weapons there, or the existence of concentration camps for Muslims in China.
