At the end of last week we wrote about the silence of the Kremlin in connection with an inhuman crime committed and filmed by its mercenaries in Syria, which clearly indicates with whose consent such crimes are committed (https://golosislama.com/news.php?id=37590). At the beginning of this week, it is worth noting — after this article was written, it became known about the comment of the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, on this issue. Here’s what he said: «They published shocking photos. It was possible to get acquainted with them. It is really shocking information. I do not know to what extent the conclusions that have been drawn, the attempts to identify these people, are justified. In any case, we have no information and no relationship with these people». Well, everything is predictable — «we are not involved», «they are doing it themselves», and in general these are «rogue agents» and «private individuals» with whom the Russian state has no connection. We’re not going to comment on this, but instead we’ll bring you news on a similar topic from the other side of the planet.
So, the commander of the US Navy, General Richard Spencer, recently resigned after President Donald Trump sided with Special Forces member Edward Gallagher, from the so-called «Navy SEALs,» who was accused of committing a war crime. Gallagher apparently killed a captured ISIS fighter and took a photo with his body, which led to an investigation against him. However, President Trump blocked the investigation and defended Gallagher. What’s interesting here? The accusations against Gallagher came from his fellow soldiers, who stated that he was discrediting the American Army and had repeatedly engaged in similar actions, including shooting at civilians. General Spencer resigned after Trump blocked the investigation into these crimes, stating that he could not serve under such a commander-in-chief.
In this regard, it is worth noting that the American army is not a group of knights in shining armor. Its list of war crimes is extensive and, as we can see, continues to grow in our time. The most notorious examples include Abu Ghraib, the shooting of peaceful gatherings in Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention what was done in Vietnam, and so on. But as we can see, even within this army there are warriors with a sense of officer’s honor — both personally and for the army as a whole. These people are by no means pacifists-they are willing to fight and kill the enemy, and they have done so repeatedly. But they believe that there is a difference between a soldier who fights against those like himself and an executioner or psychopath who takes revenge on the defenseless and weak. It is equally important that there are generals who are willing to challenge their commander-in-chief when he tramples on the values they share.
By the way, not so long ago, all this was happening in Russia as well. There were plenty of «Afghan veterans» who condemned the war they participated in, as well as military generals who denounced war crimes and the use of the army against civilians. But where are they now, at the end of 2019? They have disappeared somewhere. Some died mysteriously, like General Lebed, others forgot their principles in exchange for high positions, like General Gromov, and others live quietly. Instead of them, the Russian military today is represented in the world by deranged sadists and the leadership that covers them, to which no officer, let alone a general, would object.
