Amir Timur or Jamshut and Ravshan? Look, don’t get confused!

Recently, the official head of the Uzbek diaspora in the Perm Krai, Jahongir Jalolov (pictured), demonstrated the highest level of sycophancy and opportunism. Thanks to this, he became famous throughout the post-Soviet space. However, as Arabs would say in such cases, it is the fame of a person who publicly urinated in Zam-Zam.

Speaking at a meeting of Uzbek residents in Perm, this figure called on them to become «cannon fodder» for the «Russian world» in Ukraine with the following words: «Our children go to kindergartens, study in schools and universities. We live and work in Russia. We not only should, but are obliged to justify the bread we eat. I propose that we form a volunteer battalion and name it after the great Amir Timur Tamerlane.

In principle, it is not necessary to comment on the content of this. But let us pay attention to one thing. We are not in favor of raising historical issues that provoke discussions among Muslim nations. And we know that the Turkic peoples of today’s Russia and the former USSR have different attitudes towards Amir Timur. But no matter how you look at him, he was an ambitious leader who fought for his empire, not a lackey of the «Russian world» fighting to justify the bread we eat.

Therefore, with this kind of thinking, it would be appropriate to create a battalion in the name not of Amir Timur, but of Jamshut and Ravshan, that is, symbols of the «Russian world» for those whom Jahongir Jalolov calls to join this battalion.

It is fortunate in this story that the people and even the authorities of modern Uzbekistan, unlike Jalolov, do not want to be such «Jamshuts and Ravshans», but rather recognize themselves as proud descendants of Amir Timur. Therefore, today the Uzbek authorities officially announced that Uzbek citizens in Russia who follow Jamshut Jalolov’s call will be punished for mercenary activities from 5 to 10 years.

Although, to tell the truth, considering how the «Russian world» treats «Jamshuts and Ravshans», their chances of returning home alive from this war are minimal.
