What can be said about it? Rusayev’s arrest has undoubtedly outraged all Muslims and rational people. But can it be said that it surprised anyone who understands the realities of this country, Putin’s Russia?
Certainly, in these realities, the elimination of a person who stands up for his legally recognized rights against the authorities, whether local or central, is not only predictable, but also the most likely. Moreover, in the existing situation, when such people are «closed» under terrorist charges, which carry long sentences, or simply «disappear», an arrest for drug possession is not the harshest scenario.
Does this mean that this situation should be accepted as a given? No, and of course we must fight for Rusyaev as much as possible, starting with support for his wife, whose contact information is provided at the end of the above video.
But it must be understood that while Rusyaev deserves respect, support, and, insha Allah, reward from Allah for his actions, the path of an individual or group fighting for their rights within the existing, boundless system is absolutely hopeless.
«It is time to leave» has long been obvious, but for some the question is «where» and for others «whom».
Whether and where to go is an old and difficult question, which does not seem to have a single solution for all — everyone should be guided by their own situation.
But for those who don’t want to go anywhere and are instead thinking about who to overthrow, it can be said unequivocally that we should not overthrow anyone in particular, but rather overthrow the very boundless system in which the realization of one’s rights and the struggle for them are no longer possible.
Of course, this is not within the power of any one person or even of all those who would like to do so. But it is impossible at the moment precisely because there are not enough of these people and because there are still many around them who, even sympathizing with Rusaev and even helping him personally, will perceive what is happening to him as inevitable or as an accident from which «radical conclusions should not be drawn».
Therefore, we must first bring down this system in our minds, so that when it starts to collapse, we either contribute to it or at least do not defend it and do not prevent those who will do it. Because without this, as long as it exists, Rusyaev’s list or Silantyev’s list will continue to grow endlessly.
