Dagir Khasavov, a lawyer and Muslim human rights defender who was detained the day before right inside the Lefortovo Court building in Moscow, has been officially arrested. Commenting on the charge of obstruction of justice brought against him, Khasavov said that one cannot obstruct something that does not exist. A brilliant response worthy of an uncompromising opposition figure, and who knows, maybe we will see Khasavov in this role again…
For now, the security forces are trying to demonstratively humiliate him, apparently seeking revenge for the inconvenience he has caused them. Many, even non-Muslims, who commented on the footage were outraged that it was not some repeat offender or dangerous militant who was led into the courtroom with his arms twisted behind his back, but a lawyer with many years of experience. What can I say — this is a clear and excellent illustration of Khasavov’s diagnosis of Russian «justice».
