The undisputed hero or anti-hero (depending on whom you ask) of the recent EU summit on June 24 was Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. He faced obstruction from the leaders of 15 countries that had previously opposed Hungary’s new law, as well as two more countries that joined later. These countries included Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, and Austria and Greece. So what happened? The reason was Hungary’s legal ban on LGBT propaganda among minors. Former Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, who is openly gay, accused Orban of overstepping the mark, and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen declared that Hungary no longer had a place in the EU.
Meanwhile, Viktor Orban himself stated that the new law is not against the LGBT community, and they are not prohibited from doing what they want to do, but rather against the promotion of their ideology, especially to minors. This argument, as well as the reaction to it, should be carefully considered.
It is striking that among the heads of state who attacked Orban the most was French President Emmanuel Macron, and among those who joined in the attacks was Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. They all claimed that the ban on promoting LGBT ideology to minors contradicts freedom of speech, which is considered a European value.
However, it is audacious for them to say such things when they are promoting laws against «political Islam» in their own countries — Macron and Kurz. They do this while claiming that they are not against Islam and Muslims, but only against political Islam or Islamic ideology. Moreover, they want to prohibit its promotion not only among minors but for everyone in general.
Let’s recall how recently the authorities in Austria not only published a map marking Muslim sites which they attributed to «political Islam», but also put up signs warning of the dangers emanating from these places (https://golosislama.com/news.php?id=39828). Similar measures in France have been reported several times, including bans on women wearing veils from entering public places and even from accompanying their children on trips, as well as the fight against the halal industry, and so on.
Now imagine if something like that were done in Hungary regarding the LGBT community. If signs were put up near their establishments warning of the dangers, if they were banned from selling their products, from showing their affiliation by their appearance in public places, and so on. Yes, Orban would be accused of committing a gay holocaust and they would eat him alive!
But it seems that Kurz and Macron can pass such laws and take such actions against Muslims under the pretext of fighting political Islam, and no one stops them or tells them that they have crossed the line, that their countries have no place in Europe, and so on.
Why is there such a double standard? The answer is known… because! It is because these rules are set by those who consider themselves the new elite and believe they have the right to determine who could be the new outcast and who should be a sacred cow that cannot be offended and must be worshipped.
Orban at least deserves respect for exposing and challenging this hypocrisy by defending the truly traditional European values of his people. On the other hand, those who like to talk about defending Europe, such as Macron, Kurz and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, only extend this defense to the fight against «Islamism» and «political Islam», while bowing down before the new «sacred cow» of LGBT ideology.
By the way, both Viktor Orban and the supporting Polish conservative Christian rulers are the opposite. They are against the LGBT ideology, but they do not propose any laws against «political Islam», although they insist on closing the doors to mass immigration from non-European countries. And, by the way, these countries cooperate most productively with Turkey under the leadership of conservative pro-Islamic forces, which actually help limit the influx of refugees into Europe and protect it more than Macron, Kurz and the whole group.
