Russia’s most important «anti-extremist,» Major General Timur Valiullin (pictured), the head of the Interior Ministry’s Main Department for Combating Extremism (colloquially known as the «E» Center or «Estapo»), has found himself in a comical situation. According to leading Russian media with sources in the country’s special services, he is expected to be removed from his position in the near future due to his extramarital affairs taking place right in the workplace.
It is reported that Valiullin, who is a police officer, became jealous of his mistress and subordinate, who is also a police officer, when a third police officer, his wife, suspected them of having an affair. This woman is not only a police officer, but also a former police colonel. She showed up at his workplace and caught him with the lower-ranking policeman, and then decided to destroy her unfaithful husband.
How did she do it? It is unlikely that any of our readers would believe that a high-ranking member of Russian law enforcement could be removed from his position for «misbehavior,» whether involving a subordinate or occurring in the workplace. This is not America.
The anti-extremist’s downfall was caused by his enraged colonel wife, who leaked information about his overseas real estate holdings to the leadership of the security forces and the country (which are now one and the same). This information included real estate in Italy and Bulgaria, and was confirmed by relevant documents.
This whole story would be very amusing, but in reality there is not much to laugh about. It is not because another protector of «scrap» was exposed for having dual citizenship or property abroad. And it is not even because active officials, according to the laws enacted by «scrap» itself, are explicitly prohibited from owning such property.
One must simply understand that Valiullin is not one of those harmless and even useful corrupt officials who divert the resources of an aggressive state to their personal fortunes, thereby weakening its potential and hastening its end. One must understand that the budget of the Main Department for Combating Extremism, from which its leadership can embezzle funds for mansions in Italy, Bulgaria, and so on, is specifically allocated for the arrest, torture, and often extrajudicial killing of those whom individuals like Valiullin and his subordinates find convenient to present as enemies of the state. That is, all dissenters, non-believers, and even random people who become victims of their provocations, as was the case with schoolchildren from the «Novoe Veličie» organization created by a secret service agent.
And the fact that sometimes at least one of them is punished in this life in such a comical and humiliating way cannot but be pleasing. It is simply necessary to understand that the sum of this terrorist promoter and embezzler will not change until he is opposed not by jealous wives against his cogs, but by passionate citizens against him as a whole.
