Yesterday’s news about the Ingush protest confirmed the prediction of the Caucasus correspondent of «Voice of Islam» that the Kremlin’s most likely course of action would be to exhaust and demoralize the protesters.
It is worth recalling that a few days ago Putin called Yevkurov and advised him not to disperse the protesters, but to «talk to the people» using the «methods of language and democracy».
How to communicate with the people and what language to use became clear yesterday after the meeting between the leaders of the Ingush protest and the Kremlin’s deputy for the Caucasus, General Alexander Matovnikov.
The representative of the Ingush delegation, Musa Masalgov, described his behavior during the negotiations as «rude».
«We are surprised by the rude attitude of the federal authorities. They told us that the law on the border has been passed. Whether it was violated or not — it does not matter. It turns out that the authorities admit violations, but will not check the results of the vote and tell us to go to court,» Masalgov said.
In other words, the Kremlin deputy sent the leaders of the Ingush protest to… the Russian court, the «most independent and fair».
In addition, as reported by the Fontanka website, Matovnikov told the Ingush people that they themselves were to blame for the fact that the Ingush People’s Assembly voted in favor of the agreement recognizing the border with Chechnya, saying, «As the people, so are the boyars.
The idea that the division of society into tsars, boyars, and serfs is not specific to the Ingush people apparently did not occur to the clever mind of the general. Or perhaps he simply assumes that all peoples in Russia should be oriented to this tsarist-boyar-feudal mentality and model.
In short, it is clear that the authorities do not intend to talk seriously with the people in the streets. They are unlikely to use force to disperse them at the moment, as this would have negative consequences for the Kremlin. Therefore, it is most likely that they will wear them down, wait until people get tired of freezing in the squares without any results and the number of protesters will decrease significantly.
After that they can stage some provocations and accuse the protest leaders of not wanting to speak the language of «language and democracy» and defend their demands in the «fairest and most independent Russian court» and instead decided to turn into Ingush-Banderites.
The leaders of the protest must have already anticipated such a development of events and planned their strategy accordingly…
Finally, we would like to clarify the position of the editorial staff of «Voice of Islam» on these issues. We do not take sides in territorial disputes among Muslim peoples, and we believe that such issues should be resolved according to the Sharia, with the participation of scholars, elders, and historians, on the basis of Shura and agreements.
At the same time, we support the struggle of the Ingush people for the right to have a leadership that represents and depends on their interests and is not a puppet of the Kremlin.
We would like to advise our Ingush brothers to consider this task as the main goal of these protests, and to direct them not against the Chechen people, but against the system in which they are completely powerless, and for the struggle against which, by the way, the Chechens paid a very high price in their time.
