Israel Shamir, a well-known Israeli-Russian journalist with anti-Zionist views, has reported to his readers, citing a «reliable source,» on the official appointment of Evgeny Satanovsky, an odious «expert» with anti-Islamic, ultra-nationalist and militaristic views, as an advisor to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu (pictured).
«Yevgeny Satanovsky, an ultra-Zionist, a regular commentator on his nephew Soloviev’s show, the head of a pro-Israel think tank, a former leader of a Russian Jewish Zionist organization, has been appointed as an advisor to Sergei Shoigu. The appointment was made on the orders of the Kremlin and took the defense minister by surprise. This coincides with the upcoming trilateral meeting between Patrushev, Bolton and the Israeli advisor in Jerusalem, and may signal the desire of one of the Kremlin’s towers to get closer to Israel at the expense of Syria and Iran, against the backdrop of continued Russian non-intervention in Israeli attacks on Syria,» Shamir wrote.
When asked about the reliability of this news, he replied that he was willing to wager «a bottle of the best semi-sweet wine. In any country with an open political system and institutions of public reputation and public opinion, the appointment of a person with Satanovsky’s views as an adviser to the head of the Defense Ministry would undoubtedly cause a scandal. Even in Israel, the appointment of a similar hawk, also a «Russian Zionist», Avigdor Lieberman, as Minister of Defense was accompanied by a scandal. And this despite the fact that he has not made as many and as controversial attacks on various countries (from Muslim to Western) as Satanovsky.
However, we dare to assume that even the confirmation of Satanovsky’s appointment to this position will not cause a scandal in Russia. The reasons are clear — unlike in Western countries or semi-Western Israel, public opinion and reputation have no value there, and all such decisions are made arbitrarily by the authorities. The attitude of the authorities towards Satanovsky should be understood at least by the fact that he is constantly appearing on the Kremlin’s screens, instructing not only the unfortunate viewers, but also various politicians, who respectfully listen to his utterances in the studio, as if they were members of a synagogue listening to their rabbi.
And in the end, who, except for extremely naive and equally inadequate «patriots» of Orthodox or Muslim origin, could have any illusions about the true attitude of the Kremlin toward Israel? It has long been clear that Russia and Israel are two connected vessels of the same «Russian world,» also known as the «Russian-Jewish world,» just as it is clear that in Israel itself this world is the stronghold of the most blatant ultra-nationalist forces, which Israelis openly accuse of fascism. If this were not the case, Netanyahu would not have come to Russia for support before the elections, and the latter would not have relied on the support of the corresponding circles, whose heralds are Satanovsky, Soloviev, and others.
