On traditional values: in words or in deeds?

Yesterday’s stand-up performance by the Kremlin comedian lasted almost two hours, with a significant portion of the time devoted to discussions about how the West is decaying, how the idea of a «gender-neutral God» is being introduced there, and how Russia stands as a reliable stronghold of traditional values that is being attacked by Ukraine.

By the way, we don’t want to take this opportunity to say anything about other denominations in Russia that are declaratively recognized as «traditional,» but in Islam, God is not endowed with any gender, nor is He considered genderless; He is free from what people attribute to Him. And even if we currently use linguistic descriptions of His masculine gender, it is because He Himself chose such a description in the Qur’an He sent down, not because we attribute genders to Him.

After all, He created the genders, He was not created with a gender; He is free from what people attribute to Him. But let’s not dwell on that now. Instead, let’s talk about how on that day, while the windbag was spewing tons of murky water, Ukraine was addressing the everyday needs of supporters of traditional values, which are so vocally defended in Russia.

For example, at the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv, preparation courses for military chaplains for the Armed Forces of Ukraine have started. As you can see from the photos, they are chaplains of different confessions, not just one. In «bound» Russia, on the one hand, there have long been regimental priests of the Russian Orthodox Church, but on the other hand, they essentially work according to «informal rules», since the institution of military chaplains is not legalized in Russia. For this reason, the status of the regimental priests of the Russian Orthodox Church is not clear, nor is that of other declaratively recognized «traditional religions of Russia». However, they are often brought into the «SCO zone» by circumventing this issue.

By the way, we are not at all upset about the absence of Muslim religious chaplains in the Russian army, on the contrary, we believe that Muslims have no business being part of it, just like non-Muslims. However, unlike us, Kremlin propaganda is interested in creating an image of «twenty million Muslims guarding Mother Russia». But either it cannot or does not want to create even the conditions that are being created in Ukraine, where the number of Muslims is much smaller.

By the way, regarding the conditions — military chaplains and service support units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively working to provide food that corresponds to the religious beliefs of their servicemen. And this is happening in a situation where Ukraine is practically fighting for its survival. So what about the choice of halal food in the military units of the Russian army? This is essentially an illustration of how much the Kremlin’s demagoguery about protecting the traditional values of believers from «Ukrainian Nazism» corresponds to reality.
