«It’s never happened before, and here we go again» — numerous public figures, as well as «dear compatriots», colleagues, neighbors, acquaintances, demonstrated their Islamophobic nature as soon as a suitable opportunity arose. The murders in France became a suitable occasion — first the teacher who showed cartoons of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to children, and even more suitable — the recent killing in their church, which had nothing to do with these cartoons, by Christians. Muslim dissociation and condemnation of these acts is not accepted — it is considered hypocritical or insincere. Apparently, for things to change, Muslims must go wherever they live, kneel down, and ask for forgiveness for the actions of a few individuals acting in their name. Just as all Europeans knelt down for the mass murders committed on their behalf by Anders Behring Breivik and Brenton Tarrant. Although, wait, they didn’t actually do anything. And most importantly, Muslims did not ask anyone to do anything, contenting themselves with condemning these crimes (which could be seen in the enormous number of expressions of approval for them), punishing the perpetrators, and taking measures to prevent them in the future. But in the case of the murders in France, no one talked about the latter, nor about the responsibility of the authorities — not only for their provocative actions, but simply for the incompetence of the police, who were informed in advance about the threats against this teacher and the threats against the churches, but did not take any measures to protect them. Commentators don’t need this — they don’t demand the prevention of crimes, but the collective responsibility for them, imposed on Muslims long before they are committed.
Yes, let’s not be deceived — support for Macron’s war on Islam was expressed long before blood was spilled by provocations like his, and even before the new wave of provocations. It has been expressed and continues to be expressed even when Muslims are not killing in its name or «violating freedom of speech», but when Muslims simply want to exercise their rights without harming anyone — to dress as they want, to eat what they want, to have their own opinions on family matters and moral values, etc.
But we’re not talking about armchair commentators, we’re talking about state officials and public figures. «Insulting the feelings of believers is unacceptable, and killing people is also unacceptable. Both are absolutely unacceptable,» said Dmitry Peskov, the Russian president’s press secretary, and against the backdrop of numerous «government critics,» this statement seemed like the epitome of common sense.
On the other hand, such words should not mislead us — insulting the feelings of believers is indeed forbidden by law in Putin’s Russia, and this is one of the country’s few advantages compared to countries like France. However, in Russia you can (not legally, of course, but informally) kill believers, imprison believers, expel believers (https://golosislama.com/news.php?id=31080), in other words, do what Macron and his followers are currently only dreaming of doing in France. By the way, maybe that’s why Alexei Navalny, unlike his colleagues in the opposition, refrained from commenting on this situation? Perhaps he, who previously allowed himself to make arrogant remarks about Islam and Muslims, has begun to understand that there is no chance for any politician to succeed in Russia without their support? It’s too early to draw such conclusions — we have to watch. And we will observe every word, every statement, every repost or the like — not to harm anyone, which only benefits our enemies. We will watch just like the Jews who will never support an anti-Semite and will fight against them wherever they can (and they can in many places). Similarly, Muslims will observe from now on to make decisions — who to fight against always and everywhere, who to support as a friend, with whom to ally, and with whom under no circumstances.
Today, Muslims in Russia already have numbers, be it demographically or in terms of economically successful and influential individuals. Tomorrow, God willing, these numbers will increase and be translated into quality — political unity and mobilization of the community, which will demand that any decisions made by the authorities take into account their interests, at least at the federal level, which includes their republics.
We are not Charlie. And if you are thinking about the future, we advise you not to be either.
