Journalist Nadezhda Kevorkova reports on the lawlessness against our brother and long-time writer Airat Vakhitov, who was implicated in a fabricated case by Russian special services, sentenced to 10 years in prison in Turkey, and added to international terrorist lists.
«Airat Vakhitov announced a hunger strike in the deportation prison in Turkey. One month ago he broke three fingers of his left hand. They refused to treat him. The fingers fused crookedly. They made an X-ray — yes, it’s broken, we won’t treat it. When he started the hunger strike, they promised to operate on him. But that means nothing. They promised a lot of things and they are not fulfilling them. Meanwhile, his 10-year-old son has been denied a residency permit. In 2016, their residence permits were revoked. But a year ago they arrested his wife. Thanks to a regular denunciation by a Turkish-alcoholic-Putinist (I’m not kidding). When she was released, she applied again for residence permits for herself and her son. And again they were denied».
The lack of a residence permit for a 10-year-old boy in Turkey means the following: until the 5th grade, he could attend school as an «auditor». But after the 5th grade, he cannot.
Airat Vakhitov has served his sentence since 2016. He was supposed to be released in April. Instead, he was sent to a deportation prison.
Why is all this happening? Because 21 years ago, Airat was imprisoned in Guantanamo and released without charge.
We would like to add the following — Airat Vakhitov was caught under the wheels not only of the Russian but also of the international special services at the time when the American special services cooperated with the Russian ones in the fight against «Islamic radicals» and the Turkish special services took into account the consequences of this cooperation.
At the same time, we know for sure that he went through a difficult path and serious development, and at the time of his arrest by the Turkish special services, he not only had no connection with any international terrorist organizations or terrorist acts in Turkey, for which he was accused, but he openly and consistently opposed them.
It is important to understand this, because in the new realities the system of distinguishing «friend from foe» is changing, thanks to which an emir of jihad in Syria like Abdulhakim Shishani can come to Ukraine to join Ichkerian units within its armed forces and receive legalization from them, which was impossible until recently.
Therefore, the question arises — why do the Turkish special services continue to torment Airat Vakhitov and his family, when the international context that led to his arrest has changed by 180 degrees?
In this connection, we appeal to our readers, among whom there are certainly influential and conscientious people, with a request to put an end to this shame and lawlessness and to help resolve the issue of Airat Vakhitov in the best possible way, both for him and his family, as well as for the reputation of the Turkish authorities, which are seriously suffering in the eyes of Muslims due to such actions.
