Automatic cross-bearing and candle-lighting in Orthodox churches,
Ramazan Abdullatipov will represent Russia in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The relevant decision was made yesterday by the Committee on International Affairs of the Russian Federation Council, which supported the candidacy of this «godfather». Earlier, plans were announced to appoint Abdullatipov as Russia’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, but now it seems that adjustments will have to be made to them. As Abdullatipov stated, unlike his predecessor Sergei Kozlov, he does not intend to combine these two positions, but will fully concentrate on work along the international Islamic line.
Seriously, the problem is not even the incompatibility of Abdullatipov’s numerous actions and statements with Islamic beliefs — after all, Russia is a non-Muslim country, and a representative in the OIC does not necessarily have to be a Muslim, as Kozlov used to be. However, appointing an obvious clown with no intelligence to represent Russia in the Islamic world clearly shows how Muslims are perceived in the Kremlin.
