Khabib Nurmagomedov choked Conor McGregor in the fourth round of their mixed martial arts fight for the UFC world title after McGregor tried to challenge him for the title and begged for mercy.
Yes, we know that modern combat sports are basically banned for many reasons, from causing injuries and health damage to the accompanying elements such as posing with naked women, betting, etc. Yes, we know that the real battle for the elevation of Islam is not fought in these gladiatorial fights in modern arenas, but on completely different fronts and arenas, by the people who are supposed to be the heroes of Muslims. Yes, nothing but regret is evoked by the fact that Muslim youth in the doomed regions have chosen degradation by engaging in hand-to-hand combat for the amusement of bread and circus lovers, instead of pursuing education, science, advanced technologies, and so on.
In recent days, however, we have seen all the enemies of Islam in Russia foaming at the mouth and hoping for the defeat of Khabib Nurmagomedov. It is precisely because he is an «Islamist», «imposes his Islam», «promotes Islamization», etc. Just as we saw before how the loose Irish drunkard McGregor insulted Khabib precisely because the latter does not consume alcohol.
But not only society — even the highest leadership of the country made its choice clear. Putin, despite all Khabib’s patriotic gestures towards him and Russia, deliberately met with McGregor during the World Cup, showing no respect for his own Russian subject. And Channel One, which broadcasts much less important fights for the UFC (for example, McGregor and Mayweather), did not broadcast the fight between McGregor and Khabib.
In such a situation, this fight clearly transcended show business and gained political significance. The challenge was thrown directly at Islam and Muslims. Khabib Nurmagomedov accepted it and humiliated not only McGregor but his entire team by charging into their crowd to settle the long-standing insults against him. It doesn’t matter now whether he will be stripped of his title and purse for «unsportsmanlike conduct» — there are things in life that are more important than money and trinkets.
What matters is that Khabib defended the honor of Islam and Muslims today and shattered the hopes of Islamophobes for such a braggart and drunkard. We congratulate him for this and wish him to continue to develop in a direction worthy of a Muslim in the future.
