Ichkeria — Ukraine: Building bridges for a future union?

While Putin’s infantrymen are dying and killing in Ukraine to bring 20-30 million Orthodox Slavs into Russia to strengthen the position of the «Russian world,» representatives of the independent Chechen project have arrived in Ukraine to build bridges for the future creation of an equal partnership. The delegation includes Ichkerian representatives from Europe, led by the son of Ichkeria’s second president, Anzor Maskhadov, and contemporary Chechen historian and national-state theorist Yambulat Suleymanov.

They visited Ukraine not only to support the Ichkerian volunteers fighting on their side in the battalion named after Sheikh Mansur, but also to hold several important political meetings. In addition, they participated in a conversation with the prominent Ukrainian thinker and public figure Dmitri Korchinsky, who consistently supports Ukraine’s support for the liberation movements in today’s Russia. The conversation touched on interesting topics, including historical connections and contemporary interests and goals of the peoples of the Caucasus and Ukraine.

Both sides acknowledged that after the collapse of the Kremlin’s empire, Ukraine, which is poised to become one of the leading countries of Eastern Europe, can become a vital partner for both Ichkeria and the North Caucasus as a whole.
