Yesterday, the so-called Kirovsky district court of Ufa extended the detention of the leader of the Bashkir republican movement and former leader of the «Nation of Islam» movement, Ayrat Dilmukhametov, until March 6. For example, in Bashkortostan such a person who heads the corresponding body is Vladimir Barabash, the chairman of the Human Rights Council under the head of the republic. And what does he write on the day when the court prolonged the detention of a political prisoner, the only son of an old widow, who did not intend to leave Bashkortostan despite numerous offers and opportunities? Is he outraged by the violation of political freedoms and basic humanity? In fact, this is a clear illustration of the nature of official human rights protection in Putin’s Russia. And to dispel the impression that these are just local excesses, let’s mention another event from the same sphere — Ekaterina Vinokurova, a journalist close to the Kremlin who has been included in the Kremlin Human Rights Council since the time of the Russian president, told reporters this week how the head of this council, Valery Fadeev, shouted at her after the meeting — because she dared to ask Vladimir Putin a question about the children of Beslan. Vinokurova told journalists that a person like Fadeev could not lead such a council and that she would raise the issue of his removal from office.
